Physics Tutor

Background

I grew up in a small town near the border of Minnesota and North Dakota called Fergus Falls, MN. At our public school, I found myself enjoying STEM-focused classes. I participated in many extracurricular activities, such as band, orchestra, soccer, cross-country skiing, and math league.

Hamline Experience

I came to Hamline with the plan to major in physics. I was quickly given the opportunity to become involved in undergraduate research. I spent the summer between my first and second years working on a collaborative research project that aimed to use renewable materials to create supercapacitors. I continued this week until the next spring and was able to present my work to the American Physical Association. Outside of research, I have been a general physics peer tutor for over two years, and I was a general chemistry lab teaching assistant for a year. I have also been the president of the Hamline University Climbing Club for the past two years.

Goals

  • I want to continue consistent academic learning after my graduation.
  • I aim to create a learning environment where everybody feels comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
  • I have a few boulders that I intend to climb this coming spring.

Other Interesting Facts

  • I am currently an intern at the Hennepin County Construction Materials Laboratory.
  • I am always willing to give someone my very opinionated review of Netflix movies.
  • I play Super Smash Bros somewhat frequently.
